What should I expect my first visit?

What should I wear? - Wear whatever you're comfortable in. It's a little tough to sit in jeans or dress clothes, so sweats or athletic wear is just fine.

What do I need to know ahead of time? - We have a very simple service which is in a booklet, so you don't need to have any knowledge of Buddhism beforehand.

What if I have questions? - Sensei Glenn, Deshi DeDe, Deshi Joe, or another experienced practitioner remain after practice for questions & conversation. Always feel free to ask any questions you have.

When should I arrive? - Practice begins promptly at 9:30 am Sundays. We suggest arriving a few minutes early to say hello and get settled. Doors open 30 minutes before practice starts.

What does the practice/service include?

We have a practice guide/booklet that we follow, so you can't get lost.
You may join in bowing, reading, or participating in the discussion, but it's not required.

We begin with 15-20 minutes of silent meditation.
We speak the names of those who need physical or emotional healing.
We read the Heart Sutra
The teacher will have a short reading.

Short minute break for stretching, tea.

Dharma talk 5-15 minutes
Discussion - The livelihood of our sangha is the dharma talk discussion.
Everyone is invited to participate if you have a thought, a question,
or a story.
We end with the Bodhisattva Vow.

Feel free to stay afterward for social time.

The practice is about 75 minutes total, depending on the discussion.

New members and visitors are always welcome!
